On growing up and meeting Kina Grannis

Yeah, yeah, I know that sounds like a ridiculous blog post title. But hey, that's what happens to me on certain days. Pretty flipping random but eh. Its all right. Makes life more interesting, that's all.

So I was wondering, as Life passed me by, when did I grow up?

Some smart alecks in the group, I'm sure, would comment, "Did you grow up?" Yeah, shut your face, smartass.

But yeah. I was walking in town with the Girlfriend the other day and they were launching some kind of new Gundam model. (Personally, I wouldn't have a clue. My high school friends are a lot more into building these models where you spend forever trying to stick plastic pieces together with glue.

And I saw all these men running around excited because there's a new model being launched and I thought to myself, "Back in the day, I would be incredibly thrilled too." New toy, new fangled device to mess around with for the hell of it.

But no longer.

Very pretty pieces of plastic. And that's it.

Guess I have grown up a little. But I guess that's where boys never grow up. Our toys may change but deep down inside, we're still playing with toys.

Was watching a bunch of kids play the new Vanguard Cardfighter game and the phrases they were using about "Spirit Class character on field" and "Rockman into defense model, activate trap card, lose 2000 life points" or whatever it is did not make sense at all to me. I'd like to think that I have a pretty good grasp of the English language but I might as well have been conversing with an ancient monk fluent in Latin. No comprende, amigo.

We all gotta get a little lost sometimes, no?

--+--+--+--+--

I was just about to leave work yesterday when by chance, I opened up my GChat application on my phone.

There, I caught my brother desperately pleading for me to go and get an autograph from someone called...Kina Grannis?

I was on my way there, anyway, so I dropped by. And funnily enough, I had said to my brother, "She doesn't seem that popular, if I don't see a queue.

Until I made my way to the store where she was doing live signings.

Thankfully, the queue wasn't TOO long, and it was only just slightly around the corner when I queued up.

For a good thirty minutes.

And waiting...

She's somewhere in front....I presume. I got sick of taking pictures of peoples' backs so I took a more aerial shot instead.

And when I got to the front of the line, I said, "I have to be honest with you. I'm not the fan, my brother is. And until about half an hour ago, I had no idea who you were." Honesty = best policy, right?

But she was nice and smiled and did not call me an a$$hole. She also signed the CD and the poster I got for Mr Gushy out there.

And she's got a pretty decent song too. Gotta give her that.

So that's my week so far, folks. How's yours?
