To-do-lisT

I wondered how I wandered into this trap.

You know, that trap.

That trap.

The trap that there is so many things to do, so many things to tick off and sign and finish doing that it feels like the list never ends.

Was talking to GrannyGoose and Blondie and Blondie was going on about how us Asians would always plonk ourselves down at our computers and then start typing frantically until the day is done and that we would never stop doing anything until we clock out. In a sense, that's true. I think that's our workaholic side coming through. After all, in a business, there's always things to be done.

Sure, sure, we have to stop and smell the roses but that's for after work, isn't it?

I thought back to when I was working in a rest home and I would be working for 1 hour and then having a tea break and then another 2 hours and there would be a lunch break waiting for me and then after that, half an hour of work and there would be another afternoon tea break and then I'm done for the day. Flip, I spend half my time eating rather than doing anything else! Was chilled out, though, I must say. Spent half the time doing nothing rather than something.

I guess for Blondie to think that we Asians are stressed out people kinda makes sense. We do have quite shocking suicide rates here in good ole' Merlion City. Money's the thing to be worshipped here and you have to work and work and work to get it. There's no other way, no two ways about it. And children and even us young adults are scared into the alternate lives that we might possibly live if we fail to make the cut/get the grade/score that promotion/work up the ladder/earn that pay rise. I mean, heck, even the Internet knows all about the 5 C's of Singapore. Not exactly something to be proud of, really.

But I find myself tired and not just a little bit disgruntled. I'm blurred out of my mind and I'm not even sure that makes sense.

In other news, my Facebook account is back. Welcome back after a year of absence, Poet. Welcome back, indeed.
