Now, the Men’s Health Singapore Urbanathlon 2011 was something that I badly wanted to do this year. For those of you lazy enough NOT to click the link, shame on you. But its basically a 12km obstacle course covering different urban areas of Merlion City. However, having missed out by just a few weeks (I arrived in Merlion City smack dab at the end of January and the race was in February itself and I was in NO physical condition whatsoever to even dream of attempting this race) I had to sit out and pout on the sidelines while everyone else got a coveted black dry-fit shirt proclaiming their finishing achievement.
At present, I’m still largely overweight, having stopped dancing and a generally healthy lifestyle and eating habits to one that is pretty much sedentary and resulting in me consuming large amounts of oily food that is so damn good but so damn bad for my general health. I’m not surprised if my cholesterol readings have recently gone through the roof. But oh well.
So I’m hoping that as I make my temporary 2 year stay here in Merlion City, I would be able to partake in the upcoming Urbanathlon next year. Here’s a timely reminder to get my ass kicked into gear so that I start doing something about it.
I’ve also been faceplanting myself repeatedly on my bedroom floor in an attempt to try and perfect the Crow pose. The things we do for health and fitness eh?
